Equality and Free Speech

This past week I was began to think about my vote... while I was... during this week... my right to speak freely was taken into question and i lost faith in something i'd loved and been a part of for a long time.

The Suffragettes fought for women to have the vote, but long before i had the sight to seethe truth the government took away that freedom by keeping tabs on people who vote... men and women alike... just so they could know who people were voting for... everyone took the mick when Sarah Palin wouldn't say who she'd voted for... she said no-one but her could know and that was something great about america... that and that alone would make me wish i was american.

A friend... AND CERTAINLY NOT MYSELF... was chatting and told me that she had notions of voting for a party that most might consider unpopular and possibly discriminatory... but voting for said party would result in her being revoked from the profession in which she was training.

We're living in a world where we can't speak our mind innocently without being told we're racist or discriminating... or told we're being illegal.

I'm not racist... I'm not sexist... I became a christian in 2007 because i believed that there was a god who loves all colours creeds and religions. A god that was merciful and forgave sins however big

I was punished for something that i am ashamed of... I spoke out how i felt and was offensive... but i have been punished in a similar fashion to someone who had acted violently towards myself and other people.

Freedom of speech is a myth. Freedom to vote... so long as you vote for who they want you to vote for... Freedom of opinion... Freedom to do what you feel is right... Freedom to be yourself without fear of rejection or persecution.

Holidays

This year I'm lucky enough to be going on two "family" holidays.

I say "family" because technically, non blood relations and non married-into-the-family relations will be going. ie people we've accumulated over the years and love very dearly but aren't actually related to in any way... itwould have been easier just to say friends... anyway.

The first is in Turkey. Marmaris to be precise.

The second is in Skegness. Ingoldmells.

I'm actually not sure which I'm looking forward to more. Which is actually quite sad concidering one is a hot sunny country where the hotel will have a pool and a bar and I can probably stay by the pool and bar all day. And the other is in a caravan with no guarantee that the weather will be sunny and it most likely will be cold. Oh well... we brits ey?
